Producer information
The family winery was started in the late 1980s by the father, Tamás Gere, who, recognising the market situation and learning the tricks of the winemaking trade, began to engage in viticulture. Tamás, as a member of the Villány Five, was one of the first to start commercial winemaking, which helped to establish Villány's current reputation. This momentum lasted until 1998. Then his son, Zsolt, was in his last year at the Budafok Viticulture and Winemaking School when the family suddenly called him home. Young but with great determination, Zsolt successfully overcame the first hurdle. Since then, the beautiful wines have been a testament to his skill. In addition to elegance and attention to detail, momentum and youthfulness also play an important role in the creation of each wine.
Vintage
After the winter, the arrival of real spring was delayed, it started cool, so there was a late bud break. Following the protracted development, the summer was dry, with minimal rainfall, so the ripening of the grapes accelerated. The harvest started later than in recent years, on August 25th with the Medoc noir variety, then continued in early September with the picking of the rosé base materials. From then on, there was no stopping, and thanks to the favourable warm weather, an intensive harvest followed. In addition to Portugieser, Pinot noir was also brought into the cellar, and thanks to the persistent pleasant, dry autumn weather, the last varieties were closed at the usual time. Overall, although the development started more slowly, in addition to the low bunch quantities, they were able to harvest healthy and outstanding quality grapes. Tasting the new wines, they can look back on an excellent, rich and lively vintage.
