The Wemyss (pronounced: "vimsz") family has a long-standing passion for whisky, as the famous John Haig (creator of Haig's blended whisky) founded his first distillery on the family estate in the 19th century. Over time, discerning consumers gradually became whisky bottlers and, more recently, distillery owners through Kingsbarns.

Wemyss is therefore an independent bottling company whose professional work is led by Charlie Maclean, who has already written 10 books on the subject and is one of the most recognized experts in the whisky industry.
Their blended malts represent 3 styles: The Hive, blended from Speyside malts, is citrusy and honeyed; Spice King, created primarily from Highland and Islands whiskies, is richly spicy, true to its name; and Peat Chimney represents the smoky flavors of Islay.

In contrast to the older, age-marked pieces in the Wemyss portfolio, the Spice King (meaning: King of Spices) without age marking has been set to 46%, allowing us to enjoy more robust, fuller flavors in it. It has been blended from the malt whiskies of 10 different distilleries, its sweet and spicy character promising a profound experience.

Producer information

The Wemyss family's centuries-old heritage is rooted in Fife, on the east coast of Scotland. The dramatic Wemyss Castle, located on top of ancient caves formed in the sea cliffs, is the family's ancestral home and the emblem of the Wemyss Malts brand.
