Sansaveria 12cm

This ornamental plant, known by many names, is certainly one of the most widespread houseplants, a well-adapting plant that can be primarily recognized by its upright basal leaf rosette. Its yellow-edged, sword-shaped leaves are variegated with whitish spots, and can reach a length of 60-80 cm. It has become popular again in recent years due to its easy maintenance and clean lines.

The purchased plant must always be repotted in order to survive in the home in the long term. We recommend repotting it into a larger pot or planter so that it feels comfortable in the heated home and does not wilt. It is important not to forget to spray it (with water)!

Interesting fact

This evergreen perennial, which spreads by rhizomes, produces greenish-white, fragrant flowers in the spring in its natural environment, i.e. in West Africa, which are followed by orange fruits. However, it only flowers very rarely in our climate.

Use

It is a particularly forgiving ornamental plant that tolerates drought as well as low humidity. Keep it in a bright place where it receives plenty of light, but is protected from prolonged exposure to the sun. Its water requirements are relatively low; it requires regular watering during the growing season, but only occasionally in the winter.

When watering, make sure not to pour water into the centre of the basal leaf rosette. Always plant it in well-drained soil, as its roots can easily rot in stagnant water. It is a very frost-sensitive plant, so do not expose it to temperatures below 15°C, even in winter.

Storage

Store at 15-20 °C in a non-dry place.
