Description
Parsnip belongs to the celery family and is a relative of the carrot. This root vegetable, native to Europe, is a true winter delicacy. Parsnip was once more popular in Europe than carrots or potatoes. Parsnip was often consumed during Christian Lent and was considered suitable as a meat substitute during fasting. It can also be used as an alternative to potatoes in cooking.

Interesting facts
It looks very similar to white turnip, but if placed side by side, their root size and leaves are visibly different, and unlike white turnip, its leaves are not edible; only its root is consumed. Parsnip is an all-rounder root vegetable because it can single-handedly replace carrots, parsley root, and celery.
