Alnatura organic red lentils

A traditional ingredient of Eastern cuisine: these red lentils are peeled and have a mild flavour. With their short cooking time and floury consistency, they are perfect for making creamy soups and stews, purées, salads and homemade spreads. Alnatura red lentils come from organic farming.

Suggested use - Red lentil cream (dip) with feta

Preparation time
40 minutes.

Ingredients
For 4 servings:

• 1 onion
• 50 g feta
• 1 pinch of ground black pepper
• 1 pinch of salt
• 2 cloves of garlic
• 4 tablespoons of olive oil
• 100 g red lentils
• 250 ml water
• 1 teaspoon of vegetable stock (powder)
• 0.5 tablespoon of dried thyme
• 1 pinch of chili powder
• 2 tablespoons of tomato purée

Preparation

1. Cook the lentils - Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Then heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan and fry the onion and garlic over a medium heat for about 4 minutes. Rinse the red lentils in a colander, drain and add to the mixture. Prepare the vegetable stock with water according to the instructions on the packaging and pour over the lentils. Add the thyme and chili powder and cook the lentils for about 15-20 minutes.
2. Finish the dip - Add the tomato purée and feta and use a hand blender to purée everything until smooth. Stir in the remaining olive oil. Season the cream with salt and pepper.
