Description
Grapoila grape seed oil
Produced by cold-pressing the seeds of sun-ripened grapes, this greenish-colored grape seed oil with a scent similar to processed grapes plays an essential role in today's modern, healthy diet.
It is easily digestible and cholesterol-free, and due to its resveratrol content, it has a strong antioxidant effect. Thanks to its bactericidal properties, it can be successfully used in the symptomatic treatment of eczematous, dry skin and in healing other inflammatory processes. Because of its nourishing ingredients and quick, easy absorption, it is a highly effective skin and hair care product, and can also be deployed in the fight against cellulite. Thanks to its beneficial physiological properties, it is considered one of the most valuable vegetable oils.
To our great joy, Grapoila grape seed oil won a prestigious two-star rating at the world's most renowned food tasting competition, the Great Taste Awards, in 2020.
This product belongs to the category of upcycled foods, which indicates a kind of value increase, meaning that from a given material – which would otherwise be treated as waste – they create something that has added value; more than just the raw material itself. In this product, the nourishing ingredient got a second chance to show again that every bite has value. By choosing upcycled products, we fight against food waste generated during production, manufacturing, and transport.
Producer information
Right from the very beginning, when the company was founded, environmental protection was important to them. Along with the idea of producing high-quality, whole food from natural ingredients, their intention was to create value from what others deemed to be thrown away. Grape pomace is the waste of wineries, previously used at most for animal feed, yet more than 10 years ago they saw in it the grape seed, which hides a treasure-like, high-quality oil with excellent physiological effects. The Zero Waste – i.e. waste-free – production of Grapoila cold-pressed oils began with this first raw material. During Zero Waste production, every part of the incoming raw materials is processed, and nothing is thrown away. In the case of grape pomace, the grape skins, rich in bioactive substances, are separated from the seeds and ground after drying. The flour packaged this way can be used to flavor cakes and creams. The seeds are also dried, and then oil is pressed from them using their own developed pressing machines – without heat treatment or additives. The cold-pressed oils obtained in this way are healthy foods or cosmetic oils with extraordinary nutritional value, which are bottled in dark glass. The sediment that forms before filtering the freshly pressed oil is oil mud, which, like the oil, is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins, while also containing micro-particles of the seeds. This is sold – depending on its nature – in the form of gourmet cream or cosmetic mud.
From the "dry residue" of oil pressing, the pellet – which is a low-fat, low-carbohydrate, gluten-free material rich in plant proteins, vitamins, and other nutrients – seed flours are ground, which are excellent baking additives. The pellet is also very popular among animal feed manufacturers, so it is sold to them for further use. Since they use only natural raw materials, the few by-products that cannot be utilized otherwise are dried for feed, potting soil additives, compost, or fuel. The latter, together with any green waste, goes into the biomass boiler that heats the drying system, closing the loop. Environmental aspects are also taken into account in the maintenance of the plant. For cleaning, they primarily use air generated by a compressor. For wiping, they rent rags from a company that extracts the oil from the used rags to heat their laundry, and they receive clean ones back. The cleaning of parts is carried out with a bio-washing system containing cleaning microorganisms that biologically break down fats and oils.
With "Zero Waste" manufacturing, they reduce their ecological footprint, are more environmentally conscious, and at the same time reduce costs.
