The blended Barbadian and Trinidadian rums are passed through Plantation's own filtration system, which removes the tannins from the wood while preserving the aromatic components. They do not use carbon filtration, which can significantly alter the taste of the rum, making it much smoother but also poorer. Un-aged and a small amount of 10-year-old pot still (copper pot) Jamaican rum are added to the filtered rum.
