Interesting facts
The mandarin grows on a low, evergreen tree with lance-shaped leaves and small thorns. Its original home is South China, and it was only imported into Europe in the 19th century. Today, China is still its largest producer, but many mandarins also grow in Spain, Brazil, and Japan.
Usage
The mandarin is a citrus fruit, smaller and sweeter than its close relative, the orange. It is mainly consumed raw, on its own, or as part of fruit salads.
Storage
Store in a dry, cool place, between 10-12 °C.
