Bergamot

Bergamot is a bitter-scented orange variety. Its color is greenish, its flesh is juicy, its taste is sour, more flowery than lemon.

Bergamot orange is grown in relatively many places, mainly in southern Italy. 

Its scent is reminiscent of the popular Earl Grey tea, not by accident, as it is made with the addition of bergamot. 

Bergamot orange contains vitamin C, potassium, and vitamins B1, B2 and A.

Interesting fact

Bergamot orange goes well with other citrus fruits, seafood, ricotta, green salad, avocado and fresh herbs such as dill, basil and tarragon.

It has antidepressant, refreshing effects. Bergamot oil has antispasmodic and sedative effects. 

Bergamot is probably born from the crossing of lemon and bitter orange. It got its name from Bergamot, an Italian (Lombard) city.
