Producer information

The Budapest Dairy Company started producing the original Soviet dessert (the Soviet Union already had an ancestor filled with a mixture of cottage cheese, butter and sugar, vanilla flavored, chocolate-coated, called "glazirovannij szirok") in 1968, the idea came to Hungary during a study trip between the CMEA countries. It was first produced in the Szabolcstej dairy plant in Mátészalka, then production also started in the Zalkatej dairy plant in Nagybánhegyes. Following the regime change, the manufacturing companies were privatized, as a result of which the production of Túró Rudi became the property of Friesland-Campina.

Nowadays, the Pöttyös brand is still incredibly successful, as every age group can find their favorite flavor. Pöttyös products mean more to us Hungarians than just a delicacy. They are always with us and always bring a smile to our face, cheer us up!
