Producer Information

The Budapesti Tejipari Vállalat (Budapest Dairy Company) started producing it in 1968. The idea for this originally Soviet sweet (a chocolate-coated, vanilla-flavored ancestor filled with a curd-butter-sugar mixture already existed in the Soviet Union under the name "glazirovannij szirok") came to Hungary during a study trip between COMECON countries. It was first produced at Szabolcstej's dairy plant in Mátészalka, then production also began at Zalkatej's dairy plant in Nagybánhegyes. Following the change of regime, the manufacturing companies were privatized, which led to the production of Túró Rudi coming under the ownership of Friesland-Campina.

Even today, the Pöttyös brand enjoys incredible success, as every age group can find their favorite flavor. For us Hungarians, Pöttyös products mean more than just a delicacy. They are always with us and bring a smile to our faces and cheer us up every moment!
