About the brand

Their story began in 1976 in Brighton, England. It all started with the founder, who believed in something revolutionary - that business could be a force for good. Following his vision, they have been disruptive, honest and have driven change for over 40 years. Back then, the shop was just a tiny green-painted unit on a side street in Brighton. It looked and felt completely different to anything else on the high street or in the beauty industry. Yet it was beautifully simple - naturally-based products with ethical sourcing from all four corners of the globe. The products and beauty rituals were for everyone, regardless of age, gender or background, so that every customer could feel good in their own skin. All without ever promising to change who they are. When The Body Shop started out, beauty was a fairly narrow idea of how women should look. But The Body Shop had other ideas. They believed beauty was about feeling good, comfortable and confident in your own skin. It was about loving who you are and what makes you happy. Their beauty products were more about everyday rituals of self-love, rather than promising to slim you down or iron out your wrinkles.
