Greywacke Pinot Noir 2023
This lot was made using different Pinot Noir clones. After the harvest, the bunches underwent careful hand sorting so that only the highest quality fruit could go into the wine. The different clones spent 11-11 months separately in barrels before being blended. For aging, 30% new, first-fill French oak barrels were used. Its aroma is characterized by ripe fruitiness, strong cedar notes, and a hint of roasted walnut spice in the background. When tasting, it's as if we're biting into a juicy cherry Black Forest cake. Ripe plum and the fruity sweetness of blueberry compote appear, complemented by nutmeg and clove notes. A wine with a dense, refined tannin structure and a pleasantly spicy finish.

Producer Information
The winery was founded by Kevin Judd in 2009, but winemaking was not new to him. For 25 years, he led New Zealand's iconic winery, Cloudy Bay, as its founding winemaker. When establishing his own brand, the idea of sustainable farming played a significant role alongside top-quality winemaking technology. The estate was named after the greywacke rock, which is common in New Zealand. This essentially grey rock is a unique mixture of sandstone and clay and can be found almost anywhere in New Zealand's stream and riverbeds, as well as its mountain ranges.
