On August 1, 1882, József Törley registered his business under the name Törley József és Társa (József Törley and Partner) at the Budapest company registry. Thus, the history of Törley sparkling wines dates back almost a century and a half. Open to innovations, Törley continuously developed his factory and the technology of sparkling wine production – for example, he was the first in Hungary to introduce the process of disgorgement by freezing. Thanks to this, his factory became the most modern sparkling wine factory in the country by the turn of the century. In the following decades, the reputation and taste of Törley were known from America to Australia, and the factory had depots in Hamburg, Berlin, and Copenhagen. The greatest recognition was that by then, Törley was even being drunk in Paris.
