White rum, yet it contains aged rums. In Venezuela, rums must be aged for at least 2 years! Planas also contains 6-year-old rums. But how is it possible that it is so transparent?! Well, before bottling, it is filtered through a complex carbon layer, which removes the brownish colour the drink gets from the oak barrel. And that's why, despite its colour, when you taste it, a surprisingly mature, smooth rum unfolds before you.

It contains rums fermented from molasses and directly from sugar cane juice, some of which are distilled in columns, others in copper stills, resulting in a well-balanced drink from light and full-bodied distillates. It is aged in American white oak barrels, in used American bourbon barrels, and in used single malt barrels.

Diplomático is a family business, they do everything from plant cultivation to bottling to create excellent quality rums. The brand was founded in 1959 and is owned by Destilerías Unidas S. A.

Its distillery is located at the foot of the Andes in Venezuela. The proximity of sugar processing plants was an important consideration when choosing the location. The Unidas distillery, which produces the most diverse rums in Latin America, is located in the heart of the breathtakingly beautiful Terepaima National Park. It is also one of the rare distilleries in the world that is capable of producing not only rum, but also gin, whisky, vodka, brandy and countless liqueurs - and not just any quality.

The label of Diplomatico rums features Don Juancho, a local nobleman, or mantuano, who travelled extensively in the Caribbean in the late 19th century and was a passionate collector of various spirits. The locals knew him as a very pleasant and smooth man, and he often offered his friends from the "Ambassador's Reserve". Diplomatico therefore follows the personality of Don Juancho in both its name and character.
