Pemberton's invention, introduced in 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia, was first available at Jacob's Pharmacy's soda fountain, where Coca-Cola syrup was mixed with carbonated water. Coca-Cola was patented in 1887, the trademark was registered in 1893, and by 1895, it was being sold in every U.S. state. In 1899, Coca-Cola began franchise bottling in the United States, and in 1906, bottling operations began overseas.

About the brand

In 1886, Atlanta pharmacist John Pemberton created the syrup that would serve as the basis for the world-famous soft drink. The brand has always been known for its surprising moves, such as Coca-Cola being the first to feature people of color in its advertising and the first product to appear on the cover of Time magazine in the United States. Sport plays an outstanding role in the life of the brand, it has been the oldest sponsor of the modern Olympic Games since 1928, and is an official FIFA and UEFA supporter.
