Coriander seeds have a mildly spicy, sweet, nutty, slightly pungent, distinctive flavour. They are somewhat reminiscent of orange peel and cloves. The leaves are very popular in Asia, Africa and Latin America, while in Europe – interestingly – people either love them or hate them. The flavour of the leaves and seeds is completely different, the leaves have a fresh, spicy and slightly lemony aroma.

Use

Coriander is indispensable in various spice blends, such as curry, garam masala, dukkah, baharat and harissa. Many Indian dishes contain coriander, usually dried, combined with cumin. In Georgian cuisine, coriander is often mixed with dill and tarragon.
