Chrysanthemum, potted, mixed colors, 19 cm in diameter

3-coloured chrysanthemum with a 19 cm diameter pot: in purple, white, and yellow colours

The chrysanthemum's blooming definitely signals the approach of winter, as it is practically the last flower of autumn, and it needs 13-14 hours of darkness daily to bloom. It does not like excessive heat either; temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius can already damage it.

Thanks to breeders, its radiant, regular-shaped flowers now boast many colours and forms, so there are simple and full varieties, as well as daisy, anemone, spider, or pompon-flowered types, although less ornamental varieties usually have better frost resistance.

The purchased plant must always be repotted to ensure its long-term survival indoors. We recommend repotting them into a larger pot or planter so that they feel good in a heated apartment and do not wilt. It is important not to forget to spray them (with water)!

Interesting fact

The chrysanthemum's Greek name means "golden flower," and it had a significant cult already in ancient times, especially in China, where it was primarily a symbol of solitude, tranquility, and beauty.

Usage/Care

It requires a sunny to semi-shady location, as well as nutrient-rich, well-draining soil. It's good if the soil is always slightly moist. When watering, be careful not to get water on the plant's leaves, as they can easily get sick.
