But what exactly is this food?

It is a delicious cereal that is actually a cracked wheat rich in fiber. It is most popular in Turkey and the Middle East, but it is also consumed in Southern Europe, India, and increasingly in our country. The wheat grains are harvested before they are fully ripe, hulled, then steamed and dried. In many places, this is still done in the sun. After drying, the grains are coarsely cracked. Thanks to the pre-steaming, bulgur cooks very quickly, and it is even enough to pour boiling water over it.

You can use it for side dishes, cooked dishes, or salads!
