Heimann Merlot 2022 Szekszárd

One of their first wines, which they make every year. Thanks to the loess soil and the ample sunshine, the Merlot in Szekszárd produces a very round, velvety tannin wine with characteristic wild raspberry flavors. This is very popular with consumers.

The Merlot variety is a world variety that has found a true home in the Szekszárd area. It has been a defining varietal wine since the beginning, and can be consumed by the glass on the wine list of many restaurants. It has all the charm, fruitiness and elegance of the variety.

Fermentation takes place mostly in steel tanks at a maximum of 26-28 degrees, with a smaller part in wooden barrels. After malolactic fermentation, it was aged in large oak barrels for 10 months. Bottled several times in 2018 to preserve freshness.

Producer information

The Heimann family has lived in Szekszárd since the mid-18th century. Zoltán Heimann and his wife Ágnes rebuilt the estate, but only moved back to the wine region in 2009. Zoltán Heimann Jr. also plays an active role in the life of the winery, having studied viticulture and oenology in Geisenheim, Montpellier and Udine. The 21 hectares are located in the Baranya-völgy, Iván-völgy, Porkoláb-völgy, Batti kereszt vineyards and the Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Kékfrankos are complemented by Tannat, Sagrantino, Viognier. The family takes the Kadarka very seriously, and for years they have been trying to find the right clones and the ideal wine style.They produce about 130,000 bottles of wine per year. 

Storage

Store in a dark, sealed place at 7-15 degrees, consume within 1-2 days after opening.
