The bite-sized format was introduced in 1898 by the company founder, Josef Manner I, and has been a successful mainstay ever since.

Did you know? The lemon was created from a cross between the bitter orange and the citron, probably in northern India. Today, India is the world's largest lemon producer, along with Mexico and China. In India alone, over two million tonnes of lemons are produced each year. For the Manner lemon cream wafer, we use natural lemon flavouring and real lemon powder. A truly fruity experience! Like every great success story, this one also began with a special and unique personality from the company's early days. The merchant Josef Manner opened his first shop a stone's throw from Vienna's Stephansdom in 1890, where he mainly sold block chocolate and fig coffee. From the outset, Josef Manner pursued the strategy of selling better quality chocolate products than the competition at a lower price: "Every child who gives me a penny for my products should not only get a sweet, but also valuable food" - he liked to say.
