Upcycle

Do you know what the biggest sin in the kitchen is? Throwing away something great just because it didn't win a beauty pageant, or because it was left over from making something else. At Kifli, we love breathing new life into these ingredients. We are the very first European grocery store to launch a dedicated Upcycling category. We collect the surplus that would otherwise end up in the bin and transform it into brand new, high-quality products. We reduce waste and restore the value of food. Simply. Deliciously. With respect for nature.

What exactly is upcycling?

Upcycling is a wonderful process where we create new products from by-products and food that would otherwise end up as waste. Think of it as a thrift store for food. For example: spent grain from brewing beer, which would normally be thrown away, is rich in fiber and protein and is transformed into delicious crackers. Spent grain can make up to 85% of all waste generated during brewing, so why not put it to good use? This process not only reduces waste but also preserves or even improves the quality of the original ingredients, creating new, innovative products that are environmentally friendly and unlock the potential in otherwise unused resources.
