What does the Demeter certification mean?

The Demeter certification of food has the same function as the well-known organic certification. However, obtaining the Demeter certification has stricter requirements in terms of plant cultivation and animal husbandry than the organic certification. The focus of Demeter farms is on circular farming. In other words, only as many animals are kept as are necessary to maintain plant cultivation. The cow dung is used to fertilize the plants, and the plants are used to feed the animals and humans.
