What does Demeter certification mean?

Demeter certification for food has the same function as the well-known organic certification. However, obtaining Demeter certification has stricter conditions for crop and animal husbandry than organic certification. The operation of Demeter farms is centered on circular farming. This means that only as many animals are kept as are necessary to sustain crop production. Cow manure is used to fertilize plants, and plants serve to feed animals and humans. Only natural materials are used to fertilize, feed, and care for the animals. Therefore, Demeter products are not only beneficial for our bodies and our children's bodies, but also for our environment and the animal kingdom. This farming method increases soil fertility, supports biodiversity, and animal welfare. All of this contributes to the preservation of nature for future generations and to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
