Grand Tokaj Late Harvest

Late harvest sweet wine. Its aroma is characterized by orange fruitiness, lime freshness, mild grill and botrytis resulting from withered grapes. Its taste is a harmony of pear, quince and southern fruit, the overripe withering from the aszu berries, which is beautifully complemented by the botrytis-spirit dominance. When tasted, the sweet sensation does not settle on us, fresh fruitiness is dominant and the fresh botrytis fades away. Sugar and acid appear in a beautiful balance.

Producer information

Grand Tokaj is one of the most significant domestic wineries owned by the Tokaj-Hegyalja University Foundation, which - as the largest winery in the historic Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site - is the guardian and developer of the national winemaking tradition.

Their main activities at their Tolcsva bitokközpont and their own vineyards are primarily grape production and purchasing, as well as winemaking and sales. The winery, which has 67 hectares of vineyards, is also a prominent player in their wine region: about 35% of the region's total wine production is made up of the wines produced here.

As an integrator of the region, in cooperation with the winegrowers who have been working with them for years, they currently purchase strictly controlled quality grapes from approximately 670 hectares of productive land.

The wines of their winery, representing a renewed spirit, are made under the direction of Károly Áts, the winemaker who won the Winemaker of the Year in 2012 and the Winemaker of Winemakers in 2020, and who has been the company's chief winemaker since 2013.
