Rice is one of the oldest cultivated plants, originating from Southeast Asia, with its cultivation dating back 5000 years. Its first appearance in Hungary can be traced back to the 15th century, likely introduced by the Turks. According to research, the Italians began rice cultivation in the 18th century, and by the 1950s, Hungary cultivated rice on 50 thousand hectares, many times the current area. This has decreased to only 3222 thousand hectares in recent years, even though climatic conditions are becoming increasingly suitable for this purpose.

Producer Information

Károly Valentinyi, the founder of the company, first encountered rice in the mid-1980s during the design of rice farms, and later began to cultivate it with the help of Zsuzsanna Árvai and Orsolya Molnár. He built his own plant for the production and processing of high-quality rice, and the family business, operating since 1993, ventured into rice processing in 2002. Beyond processed products, the owners of Valoryz also participate in raw material development: they contribute to rice variety maintenance, and one of their varieties, "Fruzsina M", jointly registered with several partners, has already entered cultivation. Today, the company is jointly managed by Károly Valentinyi and Fruzsina Valentinyi, father and daughter.
