Kronenbourg lager beer was born in France in 1664, under humble circumstances. Jerome Hatt brewed the first batch in a single barrel. After just earning his master brewer's diploma, he set up his own brasserie - or brewery - in the center of Strasbourg, a stone's throw from the local cathedral.
