Producer Information
George Ballantine founded his business in Edinburgh in 1827. The flourishing alcohol trade, which continued in the hands of his sons, was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1903.
In 1919, the family sold their business, and the new owners successfully targeted the US markets. Despite Prohibition, by the mid-1930s, Ballantine's had the best sales network on the East Coast. In the 60s, the company conquered Europe, and in the 70s, Ballantine's products were the most sought-after Scotch whiskies in the Eastern Bloc. In 2005, Ballantine's became part of Pernod Ricard.
Ballantine's is now among the world's most famous whisky brands.
