About the brand

In a small Irish town, Drumshanbo, on the shore of a small lake, lies The Shed Distillery, founded in December 2014, and within it, the laboratory of master distiller and owner PJ Rigney. He is the one who pushes the boundaries of crafting artisanal spirits, pairing increasingly unique botanicals with various grain spirits. The essence of his work is to try to connect things that at first glance seem incompatible. This requires adequate motivation and creativity, setting aside proven solutions, and venturing into uncharted territory.

When establishing the distillery, he sought a wild, desolate place in the heart of the Irish countryside where he could freely experiment with wild grains, Irish wild botanicals, and exotic plants alike. The village of Drumshanbo proved to be the perfect location, so he established his distillery here in 2014, equipped with five traditional copper pot stills. Three of these stills focus on producing Irish whiskey (Drumshanbo Single Pot Still (0.7l, 43%)), and two on producing Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish gin. Later, two additional column stills were put into operation for the production of Sausage Tree Pure Irish vodka. All were made by Arnold Holstein in Germany.
