Producer Information

The poor Serbian boy from Szentendre, little Mladen Szavits, who grew up without a father, was a confectionery apprentice at the renowned Auguszt E. József's shop on Krisztina Boulevard. One fine day, sometime in the early thirties, a Danish confectioner came to the company and showed them how, with sufficient dexterity, attention, and a lot of practice, pretty little roses could be made from the sugary almond paste, marzipan. Many hours, days, months, years, and decades, and hundreds of thousands of marzipan roses have passed and been sold since then. With a lot of hard work and family cooperation, this rose blossomed by the mid-nineties into a promisingly developing company in Pilisvörösvár: Szamos, employing hundreds of workers, serving 90% of the Hungarian market, and exporting to seven countries. In 1987, Szamos also opened one of the most beautiful shops in downtown Pest. Today, the company no longer produces only marzipan paste, roses, and figures, but also a wide variety of sweets, cakes, and, last but not least, fine desserts. Most of the recipes praise the ingenuity of Mátyás Szamos. As many pieces, so many shapes, so many flavors, so many specialties, so many surprises.
