If you haven't tried the Szamos beigli yet, it's definitely worth a taste. The crumbly Pozsony pastry contains 57% poppy seed filling, enriched with candied orange peel and raisins.

Producer Information

The poor Serbian boy from Szentendre, little Szavits Mladen, who grew up without a father, was an apprentice confectioner at the renowned Auguszt E. József's shop on Krisztina Boulevard. One beautiful day, sometime in the early thirties, a Danish confectioner came to the company and showed them how to make pretty little roses from sugary almond paste, marzipan, with sufficient dexterity, attention, and a lot of practice. Many hours, days, months, years, and decades, and hundreds of thousands of marzipan roses have passed and been sold since then. With a lot of hard work and family cooperation, this rose blossomed into a promisingly developing company in Pilisvörösvár by the mid-nineties, employing hundreds of workers, serving 90% of the Hungarian market, and exporting to seven countries: Szamos, which also opened one of the most beautiful shops in downtown Pest in 1987. Today, the company no longer produces only marzipan paste, roses, and figures, but also a wide variety of sweets, cakes, and last but not least, fine desserts. Most of the recipes praise the ingenuity of Szamos Mátyás. As many pieces, so many shapes, so many flavors, so many specialties, so many surprises.
