In 2010, the European Commission registered the Protected Designation of Origin for Szeged paprika. This means that every production and technological operation, from the seed to the ground paprika that reaches the final consumer, is carried out in the Szegedi fűszerpaprika - termő tájkörzet area, under controlled conditions.
