The secret of their uniqueness is that everything in their handmade products, from the first blade of grass grazed by the animals to the last grain of spice, comes from a clean, healthy, National Park environment. This is how they can guarantee that the excellent quality of the meat can be tasted in every one of their products. Mangalica is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and natural antioxidants, making it healthier than the fat of white pig breeds raised in intensive farming, and as a result, it also has a beneficial effect on heart health. Mangalicas are not slaughtered for 2 years, so their meat remains crumbly and tender, and its cooking time is reduced compared to that of regular pork.

About the brand

The farm was established in 1989 in the area of the Kiskunság National Park, around Apaj. This is where they started their agricultural activity, which they began by restoring the poor-quality arable land to grassland. After that, they experimented with a new farming activity, which they still continue to this day. They seeded the area with their own produced grass seed. In 2010, they opened the meat processing plant, where they initially started processing Hungarian grey cattle, including making salami. By now, however, the product range has been expanded with buffalo and mangalica products.

"At Szomor Farm - in cooperation with the national parks - we achieve the preservation of natural values by keeping rare farm animal species almost in the wild. Thanks to the Hungarian grey cattle, buffalo and mangalica pigs that roam freely on the puszta pastures for almost the whole year, serving the purpose of gene preservation as well, we offer meat products that do not contain chemical residues or other harmful substances." They make their products in a traditional, artisanal way, preserving the balance between the natural and man-made world.
