About the brand

Their story began in 1976 in Brighton, England. It all started with their founder who believed in something revolutionary - that business could be a force for good. Following his vision, they have been disruptive, ethical and change-driving for over 40 years. Back then, the shop was just a small, green-painted unit on a side street in Brighton. It looked and felt completely different to anything else on the high street or in the beauty industry. Yet it was beautifully simple - naturally-based products with ethically sourced ingredients from all over the world. Their products and beauty rituals were for everyone, regardless of age, gender or background, so that everyone could feel good in their own skin. All without ever promising to change who they are. When The Body Shop started out, beauty was a fairly narrow idea of how women should look. But The Body Shop had their own idea of beauty. They believed beauty was about feeling good, comfortable and confident in your own skin. It was about loving who you are and what makes you happy. Their beauty products were more about everyday rituals of self-love, rather than promising to make you thinner or take away your wrinkles. They never wanted to create something that made women look a certain way, but rather something that made them feel the best version of themselves.
