Contrade Primitivo Puglia 2023 Dry Red Wine

The friendlier face of Primitivo from Salento. The Contrade product family at the Massera Li Veli winery includes easy-to-understand, easy-to-drink wines. The wine is deep ruby red in colour, with blackcurrant, fig and nutmeg in its aroma and flavour, its finish is medium-long, rounded off by a little residual sugar. It was fermented and aged in steel tanks for freshness and lightness, and should be consumed slightly chilled.

Producer information

Contrade is the Masseria Li Veli product family, which the Falvo family launched in 2015, from excellent quality Negroamaro, Malvasia and Chardonnay grapes grown by a small group of local farmers. The wines are produced on site, close to their vineyards of origin, then blended and bottled at Masseria Li Veli. The two wines in the Contrade line, one white and one red, are quality wines with a distinctive character and style, good market value – wines that can be served on their own as an everyday drink or with a variety of dishes.

Contrade (pronounced: kohn-TRA-de; singular contrada) is a southern Italian term for vineyards that are almost like trademarks. These plots are typically separated from each other by rows of trees, stone walls, streams or other identifiable elements. The Masseria Li Veli vineyards are largely located in Contrada Veli, which has been known since at least the 17th century.

Storage

In a dry, clean, cool place protected from sunlight. 

Store at 14-16°C.
