La Trappe Dubbel

Its dark reddish-brown colour is paired with a thick, ecru foam. Its aroma reveals roasted aromas with some cold smokiness. Its flavour reveals medicinal-herbal aromas. Thanks to the caramel malt, it is a light, aromatic, caramel-character beer, with mild cognac notes in its aftertaste. Smooth and lovable drink.

Producer information

At the end of the 19th century, a small group of Trappist monks fled from France to Berkel-Enschot. There, in the heart of Brabant, they found a piece of land with a few cows and a sheepfold. They settled in the former country residence of King William II of the Netherlands, Koningshoeven. They founded a monastery and decided to brew beer. To this day, they fill their lives here with prayer and work, in peace and quiet. 

Koningshoeven became the cradle of La Trappe Trappist. Here, within the abbey walls, Brewery de Koningshoeven produces Dutch Trappist beer. The work is still carried out under the supervision and responsibility of the monks, and their inner conviction that "good must be done" still applies: part of the proceeds go to charity. These original principles ensure La Trappe Trappist the exclusive "Authentic Trappist Product" label of the International Trappist Association.
