The history of Cantucchini

A scholar named Amadio Baldani first made Cantucchini in the 17th century. It became more widely known at the Paris World Fair in 1867, by a Tuscan confectioner. The sweet, almond biscuit won numerous awards.

The Italian confectioner, Antonio Mattei came from Prato, where his shop can still be found today.

Producer information

The history of the Monardo family goes back 3 generations. Domenico Monardo previously started producing Mostaccioli, and later expanded his range. The reputation slowly but surely spread throughout Calabria. The Mastro Antonio Monardo family business was founded. By the end of the 1990s, the family manufactory had also started making chocolates.
