James Burrough was a pharmacist and merchant before he founded a distillery. With creative curiosity, he experimented, for example, creating orange-flavored gin, cherry brandy, etc., and at that time he found almost everything in London's Covent Garden market. His experiments inspired Beefeater's two new fruity members.
