Bepanthen ointment is a skin protectant and skin healing ointment. Its active ingredient is dexpanthenol, which quickly transforms into a vitamin called pantothenic acid in the skin cells. Pantothenic acid plays a role in both the structure and regeneration of the skin. The active ingredient (dexpanthenol) is contained in a fatty ointment base, but thanks to its high (25%) lanolin (wool wax) content, it forms a semi-permeable layer, thus ensuring air exchange and helping the evaporation of water vapor, supporting the skin's natural protective role. Its use is recommended for: § Promoting wound healing and scarring of minor injuries (banal burns and abrasions), skin irritation (e.g. after radiotherapy, phototherapy or UV light exposure). § As an adjunct to the treatment of chronic ulcerations and pressure sores, perianal fissures, skin grafts and cervical wounds in gynecology. § Regular use to prevent, protect and treat dry, chapped skin. § Regular care of the breast during breastfeeding and treatment of sore or cracked nipples. § Prevention and treatment of inflammation, chafing, redness and rashes caused by wet diapers in infant care. § As an adjunct to or following corticosteroid treatment.
