Zelna-Bárka White 2021

Pinot Gris (80%, Penke vineyard), Italian Riesling (10%, Berekszel vineyard), Rozália (8%, Farkó-kő) and Furmint (2%), harvested in several batches, blended as wine. The varieties were fermented separately in tartály, with organic yeast, then half of the Pinot Gris was aged for 4 months in 500-liter barrels of mixed roasting. Its aroma is elegant, its taste is dominated by green spice, marzipan, white-fleshed fruit notes, fine saltiness and an exciting acidity.

Producer information

In Balatonfüred, wines are made from the Berekszél and Farkó-kő vineyards, and in Balatonszőlős from the Penke vineyard. The Zelna winery has been farming organically from the beginning, and its areas have been continuously switching to certified organic cultivation since 2018.

What does it mean to be organic? For example, instead of absorbable pesticides, they spray with copper, sulfur, orange oil, and emphasize prevention and conditioning. In addition to natural remedies, this also means that they pay increased attention to soil cultivation, proper nutrient supply and the preservation of biodiversity.
