In 1955, the first malt beer was produced at the Henninger brewery, which was marketed under the name "Henninger Karamel strong beer". At first, the classic Steinie –(nicknamed Stubbinak) malt beer bottle became known in the Frankfurt area. After changing the recipe, the product was marketed under the new, shortened name "Karamel strong beer". This is when the brand name "Karamalz" was born. In addition to the Frankfurt region, it was soon also sold in southern Germany, Bavaria, and with the slogan "Karamalz is the drink for the whole family", it became a real hit product in southern Germany as well.
