In 2004, Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow started making tonics from natural and fresh ingredients, where the main point was to make premium natural drinks without artificial preservatives and sweeteners! This is how they created Fever-Tree Premium Tonic by 2005. The brand name comes from the popular name of the Chincona tree (fever tree). The bark of this tree is used to extract high-quality quinine, which is the main ingredient of tonics. The quinine used for tonics comes from plantations in eastern Congo, where the purest quinine is found, but the country is so dangerous that Fever-Tree is the only beverage company that sources this ingredient from here. Fever-Tree drinks are high in carbon dioxide, with small, elegant bubbles for a smoother taste! Cane sugar is always used as a sweetener. The acidity of Fever-Tree drinks comes from the "sfumatrice" lemon extract.
