The predecessor of HUNGERIT Poultry Processing and Food Industry Plc., headquartered in Szentes, HUNGERIT Poultry Processing and Food Industry Ltd., was established on July 1, 1997, from three local limited liability companies that had previously worked in close cooperation. The transformation was justified by the possibility of capital injection and the achievement of higher organizational efficiency. However, their professional knowledge and expertise are much more deeply rooted, going back as far as 1922, as a poultry processing company has been operating in Szentes ever since.

The company's profile focuses on two main areas: primarily the production of processed, cut poultry products, and highly processed, ready-to-cook finished products.
