The history of Pepsi Cola began in 1898, when Caleb D. Bradham, a pharmacist from New Bern in North Carolina, USA, experimented with different blends of carbonated water, sugar, vanilla, cola oils and peanuts, and it was then that he discovered Pepsi-Cola. One combination that his friends liked best he named Brad’s Drink. In 1902, the name was changed and the brand name was derived from pepsin, referring to its medicinal effects. To this day, paediatricians readily recommend the product for children with stomach aches. This is how Bradham’s drink got the name Pepsi-Cola.
