It was only 100 years ago, in 1923, that the new building of the future Grande Epicerie de Paris was inaugurated. Initially, the grocery counter offered teas, cocoa powder and chocolate, then gradually opened up to fresh produce from 1933 onwards. A real revolution at the time, this was the first time that a grocery counter had been integrated into a department store. From the outset, thematic exhibitions were presented to highlight foreign gastronomy, particularly Italian and British.
