Cafe Frei was founded by two friends: the novelist Tamás Frei, a former TV globetrotter, who has visited more than 150 countries in the past decades and is a passionate lover of coffee and the world associated with it; and Tamás Langár, an economist and food industry entrepreneur, who helps the operation of the network from the business side with more than 30 years of experience.

The first CAFE FREI coffee house opened in Hungary in April 2007, and since then their coffee house franchise network has been continuously expanding. By now, they have grown into the largest coffee house chain in the country. Thanks to their unique franchise system, the year 2013 brought them an international breakthrough, when they opened the first Central-European coffee shops. Since then, they have been operating coffee shops from France to Dubai. Among others, also in such exotic countries as Saudi Arabia.
