HúsSzabóság Veal Leg

100% Hungarian quality! Real veal is the meat of calves that are slaughtered at around 3 months of age and fed with milk. It contains less fat than beef, is low in calories, has a pleasant taste and smell, and is high in protein and B vitamins. It also contains vitamin C, as well as vitamins H, E, and K. Ingredients for 4 people

  • 1 kg HúsSzabóság veal leg
  • 100 ml vegetable oil
  • 250 g red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 heaped tablespoon paprika powder
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 level tablespoon salt
  • 1 level tablespoon pepper
  • 1 heaped teaspoon ground cumin
  • 250 g sour cream
  • 2 heaped tablespoons flour

Preparation

  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan, add the finely chopped onion, sauté until glassy, then fry until golden brown. Add the crushed garlic, the finely diced bell pepper and tomato, sprinkle with the paprika powder and ground cumin, season with salt and pepper, and sauté-fry this base for 15-20 minutes, adding a little water several times, so that it collapses well and the vegetables cook down completely.

  2. Add the diced veal and sauté-fry with a little liquid until the meat is tender. Mix the flour with the sour cream and 1 decilitre of water to make a roux, add it to the stew while stirring constantly, then add enough water to cover the meat with a rich sauce. Cook for another 5 minutes on a low heat to get a nice silky sauce.

  3. Serve with dumplings and sour cream!
