Vylyan Ördög Cuvée 13.5% 2020
The ÖRDÖG is a classicus wine family's blend of local varieties, named after the legendary lover Ördög. It is not its sophistication, but its vitality that captivates. Its muscular, fleshy, beautiful structure best characterizes this wine made mainly from local varieties. Its ripe fruitiness is characterized by notes of plum, sloe and black mulberry, while its spiciness is characterized by notes of cinnamon and cardamom. The aftertaste of the sip is reminiscent of cocoa powder in both flavor and texture. The legendary devil's idea of marriage lives on in this devilish blend.
The individual grape varieties were processed and vinified separately after multiple selections. After fermentation, the wines were aged in acacia barrels (50%), older barrique barrels (30% - the barrels were made of Zemplén and Mecsek oak) and in tanks (20%) for about a year, then the batches were blended.

Producer information
In contrast to the general cellar model in the wine region, Vylyan Vinum Winery has established its estate center on the Fekete-hegy in Kisharsány, in the heart of their vineyards - thus expressing their attachment to the terroir and vineyards. From the beginning, their aim was to produce the most beautiful wines possible, bearing the characteristics of the Villány terroir. They have reformulated the knowledge of the old times in accordance with the challenges of the new times, thus applying natural, environmentally friendly solutions in the vineyard. They expect a restrained quantity (average load 40 hl/ha) and a beautiful, ripe crop from their 120-hectare, south, south-east facing, 7000 vines/hectare density plantation, planted between 1992 and 2004.
From harvest to harvest, they shape their winemaking taking into account the characteristics of the grapes and the vintage, they do not have a fixed recipe. They nurture the grapes like a child, helping them to reach their full potential. The grapes arriving at harvest time undergo multiple selections. The aging takes place in 225-liter barrels made of Hungarian and French oak, as well as in 15 beautiful acacia barrels. Depending on the variety and vintage, the red wines spend 12-18 months in barrels, then are released from the cellar after a minimum of 3-4 months of bottle aging.
