Balla Géza-Kadarka Selection
It has been cultivated in their wine region for a long time, this grape variety made Ménes famous. Its colour is a deeper shade than the average Kadarka, ruby red. Its aroma and flavour are rich in spicy, wildflower and fruity aromas. Its concentrated zinc content increases male potency. Perhaps this property made it so famous in Vienna in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Kadarka is a high-yielding variety, but with significant yield reduction (about 5 tons can be harvested per hectare) it gives very high quality.
Red wine made with spontaneous fermentation and barrel ageing.
The Selection wine family has been called KOLNA since this vintage.
The kolnas were unique buildings in Ménes.
These smaller or larger buildings, ranging in size from press houses to luxurious villas, lined the slopes in rows until the 19th century, and are still part of the heritage of Ménes, Arad-hegyalja. The nearly two thousand kolnas belonged to Ménes, like the Kadarka, the aszú, the dark purple reds, the rocky hills, the volcanic subsoil, the microclimate. They symbolise the human side of the terroir.
The word kolna is of Serbian origin, and although the buildings bearing the name have disappeared over time with a few exceptions, the term is still alive in the local language and is only used in the region. This expression is just as unique as the wines produced here

Producer information
80% of their 120-hectare vineyard is planted with blue grapes and 20% with white grapes, and their winery has a storage capacity of 8000 hl.
According to their philosophy, they primarily focus on traditional Carpathian Basin grape varieties. Their most famous white wines are Királyleányka, Mustos Fehér, which is native to the Ménes wine region, and Furmint, which was planted in 2008. Among the red wines, Kadarka, Kékfrankos and Feketeleányka, an Inner Transylvanian grape variety planted in 2007, are deservedly popular.
The winery is also proud of its red aszú wine made from Kadarka, which is historically legendary and appears on the market under the name Kadarisszima in good years. In addition, they also make wines from world varieties, including Rajnai Rizling and Sauvignon Blanc from white grapes, and Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from red grapes, which often appear in blends.
