This soft and exceptionally creamy cheese, tasty, sweet, with a lemony colour, is thus popular for breakfast spread on toasted bread, and is often mixed with herbs - or enjoyed as it is - with vegetables and in sandwiches.
Chevre is a French word for goat cheese, i.e. cheeses made from goat's milk. They are popular with the elderly and with children, who are not so keen on cow's milk. In addition, goat cheeses are lower in fat, higher in vitamin A and potassium. They are a perfect substitute in many diets. Most goat cheeses come from France, the most famous of which are Bucheron, Chabis and Crottin de Chavignol.
Producer information
The Sèvre & Belle brand was founded in 1893 and forms part of La Cooèrerative Laitière de la Sèvre, together with the Echiré and Atelier de la Sèvre brands. This close-knit, independent dairy cooperative respects the ancestral expertise used to produce each of its products, which makes each of them recognisable. Sèvre & Belle's French factory developed goat's milk cheeses using ultrafiltration techniques, which help to increase the low dry matter content available in natural goat's milk.
